Stronger for the Setback.

The Setback Collective is a story-led movement turning life’s toughest hits into fuel for growth, connection, and change.

Our mission is simple: get people talking about the hard stuff, supporting each other in the wrestle, and taking the big shot before the siren sounds.

What We Do:

The Setback Collective is a growing ecosystem of stories, services, and community driven projects designed to help people grow, rebuild, reconnect, and take their next big shot, even when life throws them a curveball.

Here’s how we do it:

Dropped Balls & Big Calls (Podcast)

A weekly podcast diving into the wins, losses, chaos, and defining moments that shape us.
Raw, real conversations with people who've fallen, risen, or are still mid wrestle, no filters, no polished spin, just the truth about what it takes to keep going.

South19 Talent (Coming Soon)

Recruitment and business support done properly.
Human. Local. Relationship driven.
We connect businesses with the right people and help jobseekers find roles where they genuinely belong.

Born on the Peninsula.
Built on trust.

Blog & “She’ll Know One Day”

Stories, insights, messy lessons, and simple moments — all organised across our core pillars so people can find what they need: something deep, something practical, or something that makes them feel less alone.

The vlog gives a cheeky, honest look at life on the Peninsula, fatherhood, and rediscovering yourself in the everyday.

THE FIVE PILLARS OF THE COLLECTIVE

Under everything we create sits a framework, not the corporate kind, the lived in kind.
These are the foundations that help you stand, rebuild, and keep moving forward.

I didn’t create these in a workshop or pull them out of a business book. I built them by surviving earthquakes, grief, burnout, broken dreams, moving countries, rebuilding careers, raising a family, and wondering more than once if I’d completely stuffed everything up.

Every hit landed in these areas.
When one wobbled, the rest shook.
When I rebuilt them, life started to make sense again, and these are the pillars that, when working in harmony, make life feel at its beautiful best.

HOME

Waking up in a house that still stands after the quake. Brewing a coffee that smells like calm. Realising the quiet, simple routines are what stop life from tipping over, a place where it is safe to be yourself.

FAMILY

Your daughter’s hand after a rough day.
A mate showing up with a laugh and a reminder that you’re not doing life solo.
The people who steady you.

HEALTH

Dragging yourself out for a run when your head begs for the doona.
Breathing through the heaviness.
Resilience is never loud, it’s stubborn.

CAREER

Backing yourself.
Sending that risky job application.
Realising work isn’t just income, it’s identity, purpose, and the chance to support the people you love.

EDUCATION

Learning something that opens a door you didn’t know existed.
Curiosity as a survival skill.
Growth as a way forward.
